Jamm-In in General

We are a recreational Music Society with the goal to provide adequate environment and resources for Students, Staff and the wider community to unleash their musical talent. Whether you are a complete beginner, intermediate, or professional musician - it matters not! We welcome people of all backgrounds and of all skill levels to learn with us and share their experieces.

Jamm-In Events

During The Academic Year

During the academic year, we run musical sessions as extra-curricular activities after Uni hours in a way that can benefit as many people as possible. We have portable instrument sessions which take place at the Merchiston campus, twice a week (currently Tuesdays and Thursdays until the end of May 2024).

We hope to organise events that also include instruments which are not easily portable, such as keyboards, pianos, drums, etc. This is to be considered a "work in progress" for the time being.

We also aim to expand our reach across to the Craiglockhart and Sighthill campuses, if there are enough people interested who would prefer to have sessions on these campuses.

Jamm-In's Plans For Summer 2024

For the Summer break, we hope to find venues to continue portable instrument sessions. We are currently looking to make recurring bookings with Three Sisters Union Bar, where we will be able to jam, practice and perhaps have a couple of drinks, enjoy some board games and a bit of pizza. Some other events will consist of purely board games nights, and nights out to karaoke bars like Supercube.

Jamm-In's Annual General Meeting

We will hold our Annual General Meeting with the society members, introducing everyone to the new Committee and to the Club Development Plan for the 2024-2025 Academic Year. This meeting will be a hybrid meegting, taking place at the Merchiston Campus with a session on Microsoft Teams in parallel. Anyone interested is invited to attend this meeting - current members will receive an email with the Teams invitation link, while those who are not yet members will have to email the society for an invitation link.
