Congratulations to the Edinburgh Napier Knights who finished a fantastic season by lifting the Varsity Trophy
BUCS Scottish Division
Massive congratulations to our American Football club, Edinburgh Napier Knights, who have completed a record-breaking season as they took the Scottish Division by storm.
An opening day destruction of Aberdeen set the tone for the year ahead, but it was the Knights' surprise 34-12 victory over Stirling that made the rest of the country sit up and take notice. The third game before the Christmas break turned into a shoot out against the HWU Wolverines but once again the Knights racked up the points.
The second-term can often see teams start to drop off, but this year's squad would cement its legacy with 3 further wins and a walkover. A ferocious offense has now recorded 330 points across all competitions with Running Back Archie Inglis netting a staggering 27 Touchdowns along the way.
By season's end, the Knights were ranked number 1 in the country and awarded homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Unfortunately the Knights fell short in the Northern Final and narrowly miss out on promotion, as the Northumbria team, and it's American-import student athlete scholars, proved a game too far.
Varsity Game
Redemption was just around the corner with the annual American Football Varsity Game against traditional foes, the University of Edinburgh. The game is a highlight of the Scottish student sporting calendar, and a packed and noisy Meggetland Stadium once again played host to the showpiece event.

It was the Knights who started brightest and game MVP, Archie Inglis, ran in a quick score and the Knights racked up a 20-0 lead at the half.
Edinburgh briefly came to life as they scored at the opening of the second half to momentarily reduce the deficit, but the Napier team quickly reasserted their dominance in the game and ran out comfortable victors 35-7 and winning the storied Mackenzies Challenge and Varsity trophies.
The team can reflect on an incredible year, with a Division title, countless records broken, and a bumper crop of new players joining the squad. What a fantastic effort and well done to everyone involved!
