I'm Ryan, & I'm excited to announce that I am re-running for a second term as your President for Sport & Wellbeing. During my 4 years as a Sport Science student I captained the volleyball team and led them to a league & cup double win. I was also the president and committed to inclusion in our sport within the University.
I have a passion for sport & want it to be accessible to all students regardless of their ability. Exercise is important for everyone’s physical and mental wellbeing; I believe we need to be inclusive and open. Having a disability, sport has been so important for me, & it has greatly enhanced my experience of life.
During my first term:
- Sports Ball ticket price decreased by 20% to support students during the cost of living
- Biggest Varsity ever with 12 teams participating
- Introduced an ENSA Mascot, chosen by students
- Re-introduced Club of the week, to showcase our sports clubs
- Collaborated with clubs to raise over £6000 for Movember
- Successful wellbeing campaigns - Feel Fab Feb, Movember
- Advocated for outdoor sports facilities, which is now a priority
There is more to be done:
- Source funding to support outdoor clubs using external facilities
- Persist in pushing the university to invest in and build outdoor sports facilities
- Sustain and expand successful wellbeing campaigns, amplifying the impact of Movember and Feel Fab Feb
- Improve committee trainings/ handovers so new committee are more prepared for their upcoming role
- Make Varsity bigger and better than ever before
