Mental Health Agreement (PDF)

Why we made the document

The goal of the Student Mental Health Agreement (SMHA) is to bring ENSA and Edinburgh Napier University to collaborate on mental health initiatives for students. The Agreement outlines the areas that we are both going to work on in order to improve student mental health.

Some of these areas include:

  • A variety of mental health support available online and in-person.
  • More awareness of self-care through health-related activities during Feel Fab Fridays.
  • Creating a student buddy system.
  • Developing strategies to tackle hate crime and gender-based violence.

What the agreement is about

The agreement outlines the work that ENSA and the University has already done last year and also lists the objectives for the current academic year.

The SMHA is integrated into the objectives of ENSA and the University’s Counselling and Mental Wellbeing Service. The Agreement holds us accountable in actively achieving our goals of promoting the importance of student mental health. This is why the SMHA is reviewed annually and has become a vital component of the University’s wellbeing strategy.

Why is the SMHA so important?

There is a higher presentation of mental health issues within the student community, compared to other sections of society. And in the past years, there has been a significant increase in the numbers of students disclosing Mental Health Issues. This is why we want to make sure that we are supporting you as best we can. We also know that during the pandemic, students need mental heath support now more than ever.
